Why Use COMSOL?

COMSOL Academic Class Kit is available to all GT students.

COMSOL is primarily used to simulate designs, devices, and processes in all fields of engineering, manufacturing and scientific research. Check out this article by COMSOL to see real life examples of COMSOL's industrial use.

MSE Applications of Comsol

COMSOL's Material library contains more than 30,000 property functions. It specifies various properties of over 3800 materials. This makes it ideal for multiphysics couplings such as electrical thermal analysis, structural-thermal analysis, because most of the properties are available as functions of temperature. COMSOL also has Battery design, Electrochemistry, Electrodeposition, Fatigue, Fuel Cell & Electrolyzer, Heat Transfer, Liquid and Gas properties, Metal processing, Particle tracing, Polymer flow, Polymer media flow, Porous media flow, Semiconductor, Structural mechanics modules.

How to Access COMSOL?

GT provides virtual access to COMSOL through its Academic ClassKit License. To use COMSOL, log onto https://mycloud.gatech.edu/vpn/index.html with your credentials, select COE 2021 when asked to choose a computer. COMSOL's Academic Class Kit along with COMSOL's documentation will be available to you when you log in.
