SEM Colorization

SEM Colorization is the technique that is used to color SEM details to better see details or for aesthetic reasons. It can be done easily with photoshop or with common photo editors.

Guide

1. Go to mycloud.gatech.edu (this can be very laggy sometimes!)
   1. Library 2022 PC
   2. Photoshop 2022
2. Drag .tiff file onto browser
   1. Import into location of your choice
   2. Open in Photoshop
   3. SET IMAGE MODE TO CMYK
3. Use quick selection tool
   1. Enhance ON
   2. Use Mask mode to check (Q)
      1. Use paintbrush in mask to edit fine details
      2. White to select, black to deselect (x to quick swap)
   3. Alt to undo selection
   4. Sometimes a single click will work
4. Add solid color adjustment layer
   1. Half filled circle at bottom of layers menu
   2. Choose a color (can be edited by double clicking box)
   3. Choose a mode
      1. I like soft light, color is also solid
5. Go back to background layer and repeat steps 3&4 as needed
   1. Single color per layer
6. For background layer (do last!)
   1. Select full image with quick select
   2. Right click layer masks and subtract from selection
7. Save as .tiff file and submit!
